MVSA-Related Publications
Midwest Victorian Studies Association
Efforts
have been made periodically to publish papers presented at MVSA
meetings. Recent instances of such publication include Victorian
Urban Settings: A Collection of Critical Essays, edited by Debra
Mancoff and D.J. Trela, published by Garland Press in 1996, and Victorian
Scandals: Representations of Gender and Class, edited by Kristine
Garrigan, published by Ohio University Press in 1992. In 1986 Nicholas
Temperley edited a special issue of Victorian Studies on "Music
in Victorian Society and Culture," using an MVSA panel and its
presentations as the basis for the collection of essays. This work was
subsequently published as The Lost Chord: Essays on Victorian Music
by Indiana University Press in 1989. Each of these publications drew on
the fine research efforts of MVSA members who first shared their work
on these topics at the association's annual meetings.
